Title: Lies In Life (Rewritten 3rd July 2006)
Category: Poem
Blog Entry: We are surrounded by empty promises
On the street and at home
Sometimes they break-leaving us in pain
Between the yelling and the smashing
We are told not to lie
But if no one lied
There would be no more tears to hide
In schools we are taught that killing is bad
If it sinning and against the law
If tomorrow I walked out on to the street with a gun in hand
And shot an innocent woman or man
I would be arrested for sure
But behind closed doors
Where we go no more
People are being hanged
Or killed with a simple bang
Are they caught for doing against their preachings
I think not
If all religions came together
And made one
Would we argue and fight
About which God exists or not
They encourage giving
But the world is so obsessed with money that no one gives
This is how we all live
On the outside they are working for better schools, more jobs
But what's happening within
Wars come and go
And so do those who fight
Its not a show
Is this what the world's like - a horrible plight
Tears are so deadly
When released with fears
They go to wars
And everyday we hide our feelings by looking busy
While our soldiers run like crazy
We ask for treats
Whilst they scream retreat
The gruesome reality would haunt us
What would life be like without freedom
We could not even ride on a bus
Without permission
Yet if it causes so much pain for both sides
Why do they still send them to war
This is our life
It is how we live
The world is filled with many lies
Filled with so many lies
But you have to ask - at least once
Why do we do it
If no one wants to hear it
What do we get from empty promises
Pain and huge bills
We will never be the same
The saying "we rule our own lives"
Have no complete meaning
If no kindness is shown
To the kids with no homes
